it finally happened

I always knew this day would come.

Towards the end of wedding planning day, my dad turns to me and says "so when is it your turn?"

Seriously??? Oh my dad, him and his games. He expects me to freak out and say something like "oh no, not for a while don't worry." Well, father, you will be regretting that when I decide to run off with the boyfriend. (hypothetically of course.)

Anyways, if he puts in some funds towards my $2300 wedding dress,

then we'll talk.

another day, another dress

OK, well maybe not so ordinary this time. Check off one more thing for the wedding! My brother and future sister-in-law are in town this weekend to finally get some wedding plans taken care of. Biggest accomplishment of the day: she has a wedding dress! Er, at least she will in July when it gets shipped.
And yes, I will admit that I'll probably pull a Monica Gellar and try on the dress when it comes it. Just to see if it's the right size of course! (hey, we're the same size, what can I say)

The oddest thing was that throughout the day whenever we'd go into different shops to look around, the salespeople always assumed I was the bride. Go figure.

In possibly not-too-related news, wedding planning is coming together surprisingly well. All my nagging is paying off I guess. We now have:
  • wedding dress
  • bridesmaids' dresses
  • wedding party picked out
  • flowers picked out
  • decorations in mind
But we still need:
  • CAKE!
  • photographer
  • a date, maybe.
  • and a freaking guest list, that'd be nice
Um, so maybe not as much progress as we should be making considering this is all supposed to go down in about 6 months.

a new level of brand whoring

I got a Prada LG phone as an early birthday present.

It's one of the most beautiful things I own.

Go ahead, hate me. I don't care!

terrible, horrible, no good, very bad

actually, today wasn't a bad day. it wasn't a notably good day either. it was just a day like any other.

so I got to wondering- when was the last time you had a really good day?

not like a "hey how are you today?" "good." kind of day. like a really good day. a day when almost nothing went wrong. when you didn't even realize that you had been smiling. when nothing could get you down. when you felt that things were going so well that it rubbed off on everyone you met that day.

yea, that good.
I don't remember mine, but when I do, I'll tell you all about it.

story time

credit goes to my management professor who told us this story in class today during a lecture on leadership.

There was a cabin boy who had just begun working on a ship. One day there was a cry from the crow's nest that warned them that a pirate ship was attacking. The captain said to the boy, "quickly! get my red shirt!" The boy ran to get the shirt and the captain put it on. The crew fought off the pirates, and afterwards the captain gave the red shirt back to the boy to put away.
A few days later there was another shout from the crow's nest. This time 3 ships were heading towards them. The captain again said to the boy, "get me my red shirt!" The boy got it, and the captain put the shirt on and fought off the 3 ships with his crew.
Later the boy asked the captain, "sir? why do you always ask for me to get you your red shirt when pirates are attacking?" The captain explained to the boy that he wore red so that if he got wounded, his crew would not be able to see the blood and would continue to fight strongly if they thought the captain was ok.
Several days after that, there was yet another warning cry. This time 10 ships were heading towards them. The boy ran to the captain and asked, "sir, shall I get your red shirt for you?"
The captain said "no boy, get me my brown pants."
